Has anyone ever been judgmental of you, tried to discourage you, or been out right mean to you? Perhaps it was a friend or family member, maybe a coworker, or a complete stranger. You might call them negative people, haters, or joy killers. I think we all have encountered these type of people. Then there’s the ones who seem to complain about everything. They blame everyone but themselves for the lack in their lives. They invade our lives like joy sucking zombies feeding off every ounce of positivity within our bodies. In order to grow and to manifest prosperity in our lives, we must avoid negative energy at all costs. Negativity will eat away at the positive mindset that we must have to be successful. Today, I want to share with you 4 effective ways that I’ve learned to deal with negative people who come into my life.
Pretty much the only way you will never experience a negative person is if you do nothing with your life. Negative people live in mediocrity and their goal in life is to keep everyone around them at their level. They have a “you’re no better than me” attitude, which makes them feel good about themselves, because it hides their own insecurities.
Negative people come in all forms. Bullies are negative people, but so is the mom who criticizes you every time she sees you. It’s almost impossible to not cross paths with these joy suckers. So, what do you do? I’m determine to keep my mind on my life’s purpose, so I use the following techniques to deflect the hater attacks.
Technique #1: Walk away from negative people
I personally have to deal with negative people on a regular basis. Seems I’m surrounded by people who complain constantly about their lives, what’s going on in the world, or what other people are doing. They throw out negative comments as bait, and wait for you to join into their pity party. If you’re not careful they’ll have you in their web, and you’ll find yourself spinning your own web of negative energy.
If you’re in a room of people throwing complaint after complaint around the room. Walking away is your best option. Don’t get caught up in their web. Constant complaining is a road block to achieving your goals or any form of success in your life.
Technique #2: Ignore the negative comments
I’ve learned through my studies about the Law of Attraction and also reading the Bible, that the words we speak are the person we become. Therefore, it’s important that you control your mouth when a negative person directs a comment towards you. Some people that only say negative comments to get a reaction from you. They want you to be offended enough to engage in an argument. Yes, it’s sad to say, but negative people love to argue. They live for confrontation.
The best way to handle these type of people is to ignore them. If they leave a critical comment on your blog or YouTube channel, don’t start slinging venom back at them. Just ignore them, because they are not worth your time. You’ll even find that if you don’t react the community will begin to jump to your defense. Let them bicker back and forth while you move forward with your life.
Technique #3: Revert the negative energy
Reverting negative energy is hearing it, then converting it into positive energy. For instance, the negative person may be a close family member or friend. Other than their pessimistic attitude toward life, they may be a genuinely good person. When you hear them going on one of their negative rants about everything going wrong in their life, you can help them see the positive side of any bad occurrence that they may be experiencing.
Imagine yourself with a magic wand turning all the negative comments into positive ones. Pretty soon, that negative person will start to see that maybe it’s not as bad as they thought.
Technique #4: Confront the enemy
For me, this is the technique of last resort, but it may be necessary to use when the negative person says something so awful that you have no choice other than to tell them about themselves.
The key is to confront them without being argumentative. The last thing you want to do is argue with a negative person, because before you know it their negative energy may overtake you, and you’ll be saying negative things just like them. The trick is to use stern language that literally casts a mirror on the person’s ignorance.
I would use this technique if I were to hear someone using a racial slur or some other offensive language in my presence. Confronting them on their behavior may not change them for the good, but it will sure boost your inner spirit knowing that you stood up for what you believe in.
Unfortunately, there will always be negative people coming in and out of our lives on a daily basis. It is up to us to take in positive energy and repel negative energy, because it can be a dream killer. I hope that this article gave you some ammunition to use in your battle to fight of the forces of evil.
